I don't much care for nothing-but-gore movies unless there's a big wink from the director to the audience - like the Freddy (Nightmare on Elm Street) movies always had a BIG ole streak of goofy and could be downright hilarious. Wes Craven has a great sense of humor. But I love to cuddle up with DH and watch a "spooky" horror movie - for instance DH and I really enjoyed "The Haunting In Connecticut", which we recently watched on DVD. We love the "jump and clutch each other tight" bit... the results of the repeated adrenaline rushes can be interesting, too. *wink nudge* DH has this "thing" for zombie movies, too. Gotta have him his zombie movies. I have many, many nightmares, but almost never have they had any elements of movies that I've seen. Stephen King? I haven't liked his work as much in recent years (basically since the car accident) but I used to be a big fan. I love how he plays with words and his macabre sense of humor. Didn't hurt matters any that I used to live less than two miles away from him - yes, the house with the infamous iron spider gates - and would pass him in the grocery store from time to time, or that he would give masterclasses in creative writing at U of Maine (I was only lucky enough to sit in on one). I've disliked the movie versions of most of his books, mostly due to poor casting; Kathy Bates in "Misery" being a notable exception. The "manufactured" haunted houses are kinda stupid, IMO, the ones with wooo-OOOO-ooo music on a PA system and things jumping out at you from the dark. Haven't been to one in more than a decade, I just think they're lame. REAL hauntings? Not that big a deal to me. Been to many-many-MANY "haunted" sites and have lived in a couple of houses with "noncorporeal inhabitants". The dead don't faze me. It's the living that scare the crap outta me. Oh, and rollercoasters make me puke.

I think that this new layout give you some very custom features that would be unexpected in a modular home (things like that shelf that allows the inset fridge to make it look built in in the kitchen). I love the window placement in the rear of the house public spaces. I might consider moving the service / side door so that you are forced to go through the mudroom (encouraging a stop there...) and not necessarily having a straight shot out the hallway. Echo the concerns about the mudroom being too small, and passing through the mudroom to get to the laundry. HOWEVER - if there is a garage in the plan for the future - it would be an easy extension to convert a connector to a mudroom and then have the current combo room become all laundry (and separate the functions) Perhaps this was contemplated with the existing design, as I do see the "future garage" / driveway listed. There is really good privacy between the bedrooms here and good access to the full hall bath - I think that design element will really pay off for you in the long run. Looking good!
