I am going to file. I can't live like this anymore. I went into details on the other post. Thank you so much for caring. I've just been trying to decide what to do and now I am going to go though with it.

Well, you can order more pipevines from an on-line nursery, or you can just leave them where they are and hope the seedlings grow more. I don't mean this sarcastically - it's astounding how long cats can go without food if they have to. Some gulf frits of mine overwintered on passionvines outside one year - when spring came and the vines started making new growth, they started eating again, pupated and emerged as perfect [but very old :)] butterflies. Bettylu, I think that you achieved a very pretty hosta bed. You have a variety of plant heights, shapes and a repitition of other plant material and colours which all add interest. I also like the use of stones. I've made my share of hosta blunders in the past and am still dealing with my first hosta bed in which I arranged the hostas according to bloom colours. This resulted in most of the hostas being the same size and colour ...a bed that frankly is blah. After studying my hosta arrangements and those of others, I have come to the following conclusions as to what I like: In regard to contrast I like the look of solid yellow hostas against solid blue hostas, but when it comes to solid yellow hostas and solid green hostas, I find it easier on the eye to transition from solid yellows to solid greens by means of an intermediary variegated green/yellow hosta, especially if the solid yellow and solid green have the same form. I think Steve Mass' 'Sun Power' arrangement is lovely beacaue of the varying shapes, textures and colours of the ferns, spruce and hosta. Like coll 123 I have been trying to transition from one hosta to another by picking up a c0lour from the first hosta into the second hosta or by means of drifts of companion plants. I'm experimenting with shade tolerance of other perennials besides hostas. I've found sedums and festuca more shade tolerant than I anticipated. In my sun borders, I try to use repetition of plant material by either shape or colour. I experimented with planting in threes, one tall vertical plant , a medium sized plant and a small plant. I found that most spring flowering plants are low to the ground, medium plants are summer flowering and tall plnts have fall blooms, at least in my garden. I don't like too many vertical plants too close together, because it looks too busy to me. Because most hosta collectors have limited space, it is often difficult to repeat the same hosta, so I think this can be achieved by using the tall big hostas as vertical accents and by using smaller hostas in groups of three or more. In my newest hosta bed I planted my biggest (by mature size) hostas first and filled in with smaller hostas and other perennials, which can be easily moved around if i don't find the effect pleasing. With garden art, I try not to use more than one piece in any one location. I like the use of rocks to draw attention to any one hosta. Once again, I find threes pleasing to the eye- a hosta towering over a rock and then a smaller hosta nestled into the rock, for example. As with anything beauty is in the eye of the beholder AND rules, when it comes to gardening, I break all the time. Sometimes I like the effect and at other times I don't. Thanks all; sounds like I'm not the only one that has trouble deciding from time to time. I agree with the difference between liking pictures in a book or online versus living in it. I remember about 4 years ago, maybe 5, I loved the shabby chic pink look. I just knew I wanted it. I did two rooms in all white - one has lots of light blue accents, the other pinks and lavenders. They looked really good - straight out a magazine. I hated both of them. Even though I liked the look, I couldn't stand being in the rooms. One was redone in rich reds and gold and black, the other in, uh, gold, and rich reds. Hmmmm .... I'm sensing a pattern here. Thankfully (at least I *think* it's a good thing) I uncovered a new element - something that's going to restrict my choices a bit and therefore hopefully make the decision less stressful. When I was ripping up the various kitchen flooring layers .... carpet on top of pad on top of old vinyl on top of underlayment ... I accidentally ripped up a piece of the underlayment. I didn't mean too, was planning on putting the new floor (hadn't decided yet, was waiting on updated budget figures) and guess what I found? Yup, the kitchen had hardwood under there too! Hallelujah! It, however, is different than in the rest of the house. It's a wider plank, wider spacing, a MUCH more casual look and a more porus wood - meaning if I use the same stain it will not look the same and will likely look funny where they join. That led me to choose a contrasting stain choice so that it looked purposeful. I was torn between ebony (with cream cabinets), weathered / distressed barnwood (with either cream, black or barn red cabinets) and whitewash (with black cabinetry). Today when I started sanding, it became clear that I was likely not going to get it sanded white enough (without sanding down so deep I hurt it) to do a whitewash. The floor has gaps and grooves and the stain color fills those low spots. Trying to sand down that deep will leave me with a paper thin floor. That takes that color out of the options.

In front of the sink for water splashes, and in front of the range for food and grease splashes. I did replace the throw rugs with cushioned vinyl "Chef mats" that I got from Costco. However, they darkened the tile grout after a week of being in place so I got rid of them. Back to throw rugs, but I don't like the look.

Hello Everyone,
I'm ok, stressing a bit, but I decided to try and work this out and bought a house for us and afer it is rehabbed (aprox 3months) we will move there and ss will stay here. I am really doubtful he will actually help pay for any living expenses but DH & I will have our own space.

DH is working 18-20 hr days to do thi along with paying for our upcoming vacation.

More tomrrow, I wll post a more thorough update from work as my keyboard is malfunctioning and I'm having to re-type this 3-4 tmes. I'm sorry Ihaven't been on the board much lately-LOTS going on..Hugs & thanks forkeeping me in your thoughts, and the good sage advise. I appreciate it very much and it def helps me put things into perspective..

Let me rephrase, DH bought the house, he says for me and paid it off & put it in my name only. He is re-doing it all top to bottom. It' going to take a while, I hope/pray this is a GOOD thing. I have to in my heart know I have done everything to make this work.

I have made it crystal clear that no adult kids will be moving in with us,no matter what.That's a deal breaker. Now if I can just get through the next few months withot losing it.

More tmorrow this keyboard is vey irritating to me, I hav lots more to tell...Nighty night and thank you again. Oh& Stray, I'm sorry it's not working for you but admire your strength, it's such a tuff decision, when to say it's enough..Keeing you in my thoughts.

It sounds like DH is trying to make this work....buying the house and putting in your name and remodeling it for you......as long as he remembers the "conditions"... If you are able to help him with the remodeling, that would give you both a "common goal" and working together on something for the better of you both.
Good luck to both of you....and hoping it will work out this time.

Thank you Fine, yes we have that understanding and it is crystal clear, believe me. It's exciting to pick out what is going in the house since everything will be new/or reclaimed vintage I am looking over, like the old glass doorknobs/fixtures etc..so this part is fun. The demo I am sure will not be. I'm anxious to get going on it already but we are leaving for vacation in 2 weeks. I wanted to cancel it & push ahead but it's paid for, we both need it, so I guess that is silly.

So far, so good. We will have G-son today for a few hours which I am looking forward to taking him out with us. Not for our VD plans (that sounds bad,lol!) but just a little fun shopping/some fun kids play place..

Things are looking up, just let me keep my cool. I'm dealing with menopause symptoms big time and have to stop myself sometime as I'm just feeling angry/hot/out of sorts for no real reason much of the time..Poor DH.
