Add on roof question

We have a 1996 fleetwood home, we've begun to add on to it with a 16X28 room off of the living room. Our ceilings are vaulted and have the upgraded snow load package. The add on will have a vaulted ceiling as well but in the opposite direction. The ads walls are 10'. Instead of leaving the existing ceiling in the living room we would like to remove the whole thing;roof and all. This would change the ceiling of the existing room to raise and match the new. We would only like to go to the ridge beam with the new ceiling height. If we support the ridge beam with uprights and an 8X8 doug fir beam will that plus 1 exterior wall and 1 interior wall hold up the new roof? What about under the house supports for under the iterior wall? The house is on a permanent cement foundation as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

RE: Add on roof question

The existing roof also provides lateral support for the walls- it keep the wind from blowing over the walls. The existing tie-down strapping may well go completely over the existing rafters just under the outer roofing material. Removing the existing roof will require expert help to avoid a disaster.
