Wrapping water heater in outdoor closet?

Hi,
Since my water heater is in an outside enclosed closet (vented) should I still wrap it? Do I have to cut out any certain areas for safety?

| if it's electric you should be able to follow the instructions that come with the wrap package. If it's gas I would be extremely careful in wrapping it. I would check with my gas supplier to get their opinion. |
