Adding molding to windows

Sure would like to frame out the plain looking metal windows in my DW.

Maybe some nice 1 x 4's ?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Better to use actual trim, not plain 1x4s. The two basic types are ranch and colonial. You can get them as real wood, pre stained or painted or unfinished. You can get them as fake wood, a very light resin that is cheap but fragile to work with. Only available pre finished or painted.
