Can someone tell me what is all involved in moving a mobile home and how long it takes to unhook everything and get it ready to go?

Somehow, I do not take this as a serious question. A builder would be able to figure this one out without help. My response assumes a singlewide mobile home. If a heat pump or AC unit is involved, the outdoor unit must be disconnected by a licensed contractor who will capture the refrigerant. This can be done at any time before the mobile home is moved. Removing skirting, if any, disconnecting water and sewer will take only a few minutes. If axles must be installed, that time will depend on the size of the work crew. A crew of 5 or 6 will do the job faster than a crew of 2. From the time the moving crew shows up, the home should be gone in two hours or less. Doublewides take much more time to prepare for moving.

in addition to what Bus Driver has mentioned you must also consider the width and length of the unit. It may require applying to your Department of Transportation for "Over Dimension" highway use permits. In the permitting process your DOT will have to consider the present location and the best route to the desired location to insure there are no low overpasses, utility lines or narrow bridges. The state will determine both the route and the dates when the move can be made. In most localities overdimension loads can only be moved on weekdays during daylight hours. Normally mobile homes must be moved by specialized mobile home moving trucks and the carrier will assist you in getting the permits and arranging any escorts that may be required but you should anticipate two to three weeks minimum to get everything co-ordinated.
