Painting ceilings white

| I painted my ceilings white last spring and they all have a grayish cast to them. They are regular trailer ceilings and they soak up the paint. Any one have any suggestions how I can get true white ceilings? |

How many coats of paint did you use?
Did you prime?

| No I didn't prime first. They have been painted before so I didn't think it was necessary. I used a paint from Ace Hardware not sure what it was called. I used two coats of paint. |
