Hanging hose holder on house siding HELP!
| | |
Posted by marezlee (My Page) on Thu, Mar 15, 07 at 16:36
I have a 2004 Fleetwood manufactured home. It has vinyl siding with what I thought was paper covered plywood underneath. Apparently it's some kind of foam board.
I want to hang a hose hanger on the siding. How can I do this with no wood underneath it? I used a stud finder and thought I at least had a stud there.

You've definitely got some studs there somewhere...either 16" or 24" apart. I don't blame you for not wanting to make unnecessary holes in the siding. Once you make a hole it't there forever. If you can "unzip" the siding (take apart where one piece overlaps the other) then you can poke around with a hammer and nail to locate a stud. From my experince it will never hang right without a more solid backing. One suggestion that I have seen used a few times is to buy a 4' piece of 4"x4" pressure treated wood at Home Depot, dig a hole and set the post where you would like and mount the hanger to the post. |
