what maker of mfg home ?

Our present home is a 1995 class 6 Silvercrest home and it is wonderful. Now as we prepare to buy acreage in the nearby countryside for a new mfg home, we find Silvercrest is no longer selling here in Oregon. Have ordered the Grissom book in hopes of finding which homes are class 6. So far, Karsten Homes and Fuqua seem to be best quality but would love to hear some feedback.

RE: what maker of mfg home ?

We live in Oregon, too, and although I can't answer your question I do have an opinion! We looked at moving onto land and putting up a manuf. home a few years ago (just before the market fell). We are living in a manuf. home and won't have anything else now. We fell in love with both Karsten and Fuqua homes. The Fuqua can be purchased like a stick built home -- the lenders consider them as if they are stick built. But the expense put them over our budget. By far, my favorite was Karsten. They're well built, nice floor plans, and you can make changes to them! If you want to extend the end 5 more feet, they'll do it. Not many others will do that.

Good luck -- and enjoy!
