Elastomeric?

Posted by bestalikat (My Page) on

So I had a home inspection of my new-to-me home. It's a 1970 Marlette.

Overall it did okay, but the inspector recommended something called Elastomeric or snow roofing.

Anybody have any experience with such a thing? Do you have it on your place? Pros/cons?

RE: Elastomeric?

I used some several years ago on my mobile, and basically it is just paint with a elastic additive in it that holds on to the metal better and seals the seams. Kind of pricy, about $50 bucks for a five gallon bucket, but depending on how thick you put it on, one bucket may do your whole roof. I'm due for another coat this summer, since its been 4 or 5 years since I applied mine. Good luck and be careful up on that roof!!!

I know you put this stuff directly on the roof but what about the little over hang(like were the gutters would be)do you use it there or is there something else for that.Sorry if thats a silly question but we have to spots were its leaking and it seems to be were its coming from.
