Making a shop out of bedroom

Posted by john_z11 (My Page) on

I want to remove the back wall and put a roll-up door there, so I can make a work shop out of it.
I want to know if there is anything against doing this. I’m the only one living here and this is pretty much where I spend my time.

Or should I look into building a shed?

Thank you John

My main question is how high is your home off the ground? That would limit your ability to use the roll up door to its full potential. Most mobile homes (I am assuming that this is a mobile home) are off the ground a good bit, making it difficult to pull say a lawn mower into. Now, if you are low to the ground on the side you want to use you could build a small ramp that would give you access. Otherwise you should buy a double door unit. Here are some other considerations, local building codes, possible increase in insurance premiem, and cost of the door. If I was in you situation, I would just build a shop. I hope this was of some use. If you need mobile home parts check out www.themobilehomepartsplace.com

also there is the problem with critters getting in through your door..maybe double doors that open in the center ..out..would give you the same openin but more protection and also maintain the resale value of the home

Thanks, has soon as I posted, I got busy at work and couldn't get back here.

Double doors sound good, or just a larger one would work too. I need to work some things out first, hunting for ideals.

Thanks, John
