I just bought a doublewide office trailer and am having it moved. There are some issues with what looks like T111 siding. The "engineers" who designed these had siding that consists of an 8' piece of T111 with a 2' strip above it. They used some1X4 to bridge the gap and paint and caulk. There are a few leaks, but it looks manageable. Most of the leaks are coming from the joint (surprise, surprise, surprise).

I am thinking of replacing the T-111 but using some sort of flashing to go under the top one and over the bottom to seal the joint. What do you all think?? I got the thing for a song from a local university that used it for classrooms, so I can afford to put some money into it. The interior looks good.

Have even thought of creating a shell around the outside with SIPS panels and then put a metal roof over it.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
