Hardwood flooring

HI. I would like to know when choosing hardwood flooring for a kitchen, do you go lighter or darker shades of your cabinets? I got a sample piece from lowe's yesterday (which I loved) then when I laid it up against the cabinets it matched. Thanks for your help.

Rhonhod,

This is just my personal taste,(in other words you might not like this) but I prefer to have a darker floor that anchors the room. That way the lighter wall or cabinets will draw the eyes upward. Of course, matching floor and cabinets can work really well with each other. I guess it boils down to just do what you like. If someone says they don't like it, hey, they can leave. Have a good one!

I think hardwood floors look great in whatever color. They look so rich! Just get whatever you really like and I'm sure it will look great.
