The colorkinetics website has alot of material about cove lighting. You'd have to sift through the material to get product independent info. Eg - sizing of the cove.

The environmentallights website is also fairly helpful.

The dimmer probably has to be ELV or MLV (if using low voltage). An adaptive phase dimmer would be usable for both elv and mlv.

I used environmental lights "strip lights" (i.e., tape lights) for cove lighting (or I think that's what you call it -- up lighting above the cabinets to fill the 15" space between the cabinets and ceiling with soft light) above my mom's kitchen cabinets and they look lovely. Very even and nice color and totally dimmable. Very nice product, IMHO. They can be very bright, so call the number and talk to someone about which exact tape you want to get the brightness you desire.
