| How can I remove the metal base of the light bulb that has broken off in the fixture? I tried the potato trick - it didn't work.

| Turn off the circuit at the panel and use needle-nosed pliers. |

| I agree, don't wimp out. Put gloves, preferably kevlar lined, and get the lamp base out of there! If needed, use tools! |

| I recently had the same problem and used needle nosed pliers but rather than grabbing the metal base, I opened them inside the base. They caught just enough of the base to screw it out of the socket. |
