| Good thing is we have recessed lights all over the house. But, they were installed in the 80's and they are huge. They take big bulbs and have a wide rim on the casing.
What is involved in making them smaller? Do the ceiling holes have to be replastered or is it merely a matter of installing smaller rims and/or housing?

| It is usually necessary to cut out a square of ceiling larger than the fixture, remove the fixture and housing, install a new fixture and then patch the hole. Once, on some 6" fixtures I was able to remove the interior trim and replace it with a "cross blade" trim made for the original housing. Using frosted PAR 30 lamps also helped. |
