 o
chandelier weight

I am trying to find a replacement dining room chandelier. Is there a weight limit for chandeliers before extra bracing is needed? For some reason I thought I heard once that over 30lbs. need extra support. This is a 1940's house and the present chandelier looks to be very light weight. The ones I like tend to be over 30lbs. Any help much appreciated.

Amy

RE: chandelier weight

The weight capacity varies depending on the type of box. In the worst instance it is not hard to replace the box with something like this Remodel Electrical Box
