| I am trying to find a replacement dining room chandelier. Is there a weight limit for chandeliers before extra bracing is needed? For some reason I thought I heard once that over 30lbs. need extra support. This is a 1940's house and the present chandelier looks to be very light weight. The ones I like tend to be over 30lbs. Any help much appreciated.

| The weight capacity varies depending on the type of box. In the worst instance it is not hard to replace the box with something like this Remodel Electrical Box |
