Nightlight for child and grandma

Hi,

We have a dark hallway leading to the bathroom that will be used by a young child and an elderly lady. We want to add an automatic night light that is direct wired. Is there a solution that can be recessed into the wall at the floor level that will turn on based on motion at night (photo sensitive?)? We have not had luck with the battery/ outlet type nightlights. This is a new construction, so we are in a position to do a permanent solution if we can find something suitable. Any ideas?

Lalitha

One idea is to simply use a dimmer switch. Then at night, set it to its lowest setting. If you use a LED bulb for your hall light, the electricity usage is very low. (I do this when my mother in law is visiting.)
