Please see my attached kitchen layout and review my lighting. Our builder gives as standard 6 LED lights in the kitchen. Are these lights good enough? we do plan on using the island heavily for prepping and possibly even homework. My lighting vendor says LEDs shed more light than pendants which are going out of trend anyway as folks are preferring the clean look of LEDs that don't block the view from kitchen to family room.

Also I will be having chandelier in breakfast nook, which is immediately off of the kitchen and a ceiling fan and 4 more LEDs in the family room. She suggested that pendants in the kitchen may make it too busy. Since pendants are non-standard whereas LEDs are standard in my kitchen is it worth incurring that expense?

Also if we can manage with 6 LEDs in the kitchen, is the position marked here good? should we move one directly over sink?
