Q about color temperature in cans

Using Halo/Cooper if it matters. I know I want the cans in the kitchens to be 3000K-- don't need that "golden glow" in the kitchen that the 2700K mimics. Now that the electrician is about to put them in, it occurs to me that we didn't distinguish between the ones in the kitchen and the ones in a hallway (same floor, but not directly adjacent).

The hallway is next to an open stair and just leads to a closet and bathroom. I don't want that area to feel too clinical, so the golden glow similar to incandescent would be OK. But maybe a dimmed 3000K would be fine, too? Not sure if I need to panic and have those switched out. Or save the panic for the remaining 2 million decisions.

That depends on whether you're using incandescent or led lighting. If the latter, dimming will not change the color much at this point in time. 2013.

Most incandescents are 2700k.

Oh, oops, have been thinking about LED so much lately, I didn't realize I had not included that detail!

I wasn't sure how much difference I'd notice between the cooler and warmer areas of LED if I use 3000K in kitchen and 2700K in nearby hall area.

Right, thanks for the perspective. I'm hoping that not looking at them side-by-side will help. In the context of the whole house, I'm sure it won't be my worst decision! Heck, even in the context of the lighting design...

It would probably be a bigger issue if you have an open concept layout.

If you plan on having many gatherings and involving the kitchen area keeping the same temp would work better.
