Collapsible cans

I'm remodeling my kitchen and want to install recessed LED fixtures. Unfortunately, I have limited space between the ceiling and what's above it (roof?). Someone mentioned collapsible can fixtures. I'd appreciate information on them since I can't find them anywhere.

There are no collapsible cans.
Even if there were, modules such as the Cree CR6, Sylvania RT6, ... will require a minimum space and a metal housing to accommodate the light.
If the space above the ceiling board is severely constrained, solutions like the Glimpse from Lighting Science would be more appropriate.

Also search "led disk light" on home depot and lowes (one of them carries it), they are a little pricey but can be installed into any J-box, they are very shallow and are made to color match the 2700k recesseld LED inserts. They are surface mounted but sort of look like recessed lights when they are installed.
