| hi, i have wall lamps with specification to use 40 watt 230 volt G9 halogen bulbs. can i safely use 60 watt 120 volt bulbs in these? thanks in advance!!!

| No. If it's speced for 40W, then 40W is the max you can use. There's also a possible issue of whether the wires and socket are OK with running double the current at 120V. Since 40W only draws 1/3rd of an amp at 120, they're probably OK for that, but that has not been demonstrated. |

| thanks solarpowered. i was hoping 120v to be not as hot as 230v at the same wattage. i guess it's always better to be safe than sorry. |
