Modifying ceiling fan light

Recently we purchased a ceiling fan that we really, really like for our bedroom. Unfortunately, the 3- 40w candelabra sockets on the fan are a pitiful light source. The light might as well not exist. I've called the company, the store, no luck. There's no replacement light kit with higher wattage bulbs. I've tried putting in 60w candelabra bulbs and it makes no difference. I've tried putting in unfrosted, clear bulbs: no difference.

What I would like to do is modify the light kit by replacing the 3-40w candelabra sockets with 2-60w standard light sockets. I realize this entails a bit of electrical work, but I think I can probably manage.

What I'd like to know is where I could buy said sockets. The local home improvement stores only seem to carry the light sockets with a turn knob or a push button.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you.
