Advice Needed on Fixtures To Put In House Wer're Buying- PICS

Older 1985 home (gosh, just saying 1985 is older makes me feel terrible!) that needs some updating and was hoping to find some inspiration and ideas on what to replace the old ones with. My decorating skills and know-how is about as good as my cooking skills (I'm banned from the kitchen, need I say more?)

Below are some pictures - if anyone can give me some ideas of what they think would be good to put as a replacement, would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you know of a great on-line source, would appreciate a link or name to look at (beyond the ones that are really well known)

This is the entry, very tall ceilings - there are two of the hanging lamps in this area, one on each side.

Hallways (they are the same in length, rooms off the sides) no fixtures on ceiling, the ones they have are on the side/wall and very dim

Thanks for any and all suggestions, I appreciate all replies!
