| Hello. We just bought a new house and we are wanting to change most of the lighting in it. It is very dark in the house, even with all the lights on so we thought changing the excisting lights to recessed lights would help. Are there recessed lights that spread the light out vs having a spotlight effect? We could also just change the fixtures since all of them have a yellow/bronze frosted glass, but we thought the recessed lighting would update the house better. |

| More or less unless the bulb or a globe protrudes below the mounting surface. |

| Some do just that, like this "cratere dome" from Lightolier which fits on a 5" recessed can, small enough that it won't be confused for a surface-mount ceiling light. Other shapes are available too.
