Recessed lighting kitchen help!!

Posted by apdetwiler (My Page) on

I'm in the process of building my first home, will also be a first time homeowner.
The kitchen is going to be approximately 10x12ft. (Pretty small from what I've heard.) It's a 1350sqft home tho. There will be a breakfast bar separating the kitchen from the dining room. With 2 pendants hanging over the bar.
Curious if 5 recessed lights would be sufficient to light this kitchen?? The ceilings are 9ft throughout the house. I will upload a picture of the floor plan if it helps with any input.
Thank you!!

Thank you for that link! Definitely helped with placement and amount of lights. Thinking 5 cans would be adequate now.
About 30" from the wall near the edge of the countertop. Do you think i would need any cans in the center of the kitchen?
Here is the floor plan. Kitchen is marked.
