4 or 6 in recessed lighting in kitchen reno?

Hi All:

Our electrician and designer are squaring off with the designer suggesting 4" diameter recessed lighting and the electrician wanting 6". The electrician also keeps pushing LED but designer is reluctant. Kitchen is white cabinetry with Virginia Mist / Jet Mist hones countertops and island. Island forms a T into a bar, which will also have same countertop for consistency. We're contemporary in design.

Any insight / lessons learned are much appreciated!!

4" can lights are somehat more stylish while 6" cans are easier for replacing the lamps.

The install costs are the same.

4" cans may cost more than the 6" cans.

Cree CR4 or 6 lamps are the best led lights.- good spread of light, long life, dimming performance is good... No trim ring required since it is attached.
