Extending a pendant light cord

I purchased 5 pendant lights and adapters to attach them to an 8 ft trac above the kitchen island. The wire is too short to hang the lights where I want them so I am wondering if I can buy lamp cord and then crimp cord to the cord that is attached to the pendant light. The pendants hang by a downrod, so there will be no tension on the wire. I thought about starting over with a new socket and wire, but I can't find any GU10 sockets that do not have lead wires attached so it would seem I would be crimping anyway. Would it be permissible to use a crimp connection in this situation? Thanks!
