Best 4' LED Downlights / High Hats?

Posted by sspinn (My Page) on

A bunch of older discussions here on LED recessed lighting. Curious if anyone has recent experience w/ 4" units -- Cree, LEDWaves or others I haven't yet discovered?

A few areas of interest?
- Quality of light?
- Units requiring drivers .vs fully integrated
- Price point -- huge variance in pricing and not clear why?

How I am using them?
- Apartment renovation, 100 year old building
- Not for task, rather as architectural detail
- Will be installed in soffit w/ crown molding (previously a wall separating living room from dining room)

Help here appreciated.

I would lean towards using Cree LR4 - both the lamp and housing.
