I am trying to replace a pendant light in my bathroom. my question is this: the base of the current light is about 6 in. The light that i just bought has a base of 4 in. I just now realized that that probably won't work.
Do i need to get a diameter of 6 or greater for the new light or is the hole underneath not as big as the whole diameter? This sounds like such a silly question, but i have to buy the light before i can have the electrician out. thx |

| If it's a standard ceiling box in the ceiling, the 4" coverplate will work. The larger plate could just be a design feature by the manufacturer. There's also the possibility that the larger cover was used to cover up a hole which was cut too large. You'll know as soon as the existing plate is removed. |
