Recessed LED Can Lighting Question

Hello,
I am new to the LED lighting scene, but I would like to incorporate them into our upcoming kitchen remodel. Can my electrician wire normal incandescent can lights and then can I simply put an LED bulb in them? Or, are there specific "fixtures" that are designed for LED recessed lighting. I ask because my DW is not sure about the color/feel of LED lighting and I would like to have options. Thanks for any guidance!
