fluorescent pot lights wtih dimming ballast?

I searched for "dimmable fluorescents" on this site and all the links on the front pages are over 2 years old.

I found a reference to Halo recessed housing compact fluorescent with dimming ballast. Can regular compact fluorescents be used in this kind of housing? It is the Halo H273ICAT1D. They are Title 24 compliant and Energy Star qualified.

No, regular CFLs cannot be used. The main reason is that the standard screw in base cannot be used, just in case you decide to switch to incandescent / halogen type lighting.

If you're considering dimmable CFL pots, CREE LED lights are more cost effective.
