Opinion on Lighting position over Medicine Cabinet

Hello trusty Garden Web people.
I have a question about where my bathroom light should go. I have recessed medicine cabinets 30" high by 46.5 w. I purchased one of those cylindrical bath bar lights to go over it. The light is 38" long with a 5" diameter wall plate.

The contractor moved the box to the center, but also raised it higher than where the old light was. Shouldn't it be closer to the medicine cabinets? Just 2-3 inches above? It is the only light in the room and I want to make sure I get it right, Thank you.

I think there is a range of height that the light could be mounted. Higher might cut down having you eye catching the glare of looking directly at the light bulbs.

I would consider installing a second light. If you are going to have a vent fan fixture, you might want to get one that has a light and a night light which could come in handy for you. This is the one I installed recently. It's pretty quiet when the fan is running.

Here is a link that might be useful: Hunter vent/light

What does the fixture look like? If it is a triple sconce with 3 separate glass shades pointing down then it probably should go a bit higher.
