| I have a yard light that serves as the only exterior lighting for two doors coming from the house. I believe it is a mercury vapor light. I would like to replace it with something more energy efficient, but just as bright.
Would an LED light fixture provide this for me? I'm assuming I would need an entirely new fixture to replace the existing ballast. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| I don't know of anything available in LED that would be better. |

| I would recommend finding out exactly what you have. Is there an MV designation on your lamp? This will indicate mercury vapor. How many watts is the lamp? I would then remove the ballast and run line voltage to the fixture. My choice would be a high wattage CFL. There is no LED that will adequately replace a mercury vapor lamp. |

| I would recommend a commercial grade CFL(not the residential spiral)with a minimum 2-42W TRT lamp or equivalent. Depending on how much lighting you actually need a high pressure sodium(HPS) fixture might suit your needs. |
