Outdoor LED naked bulb cover

I used to have a 25 watt yellow bug incandescent bulb installed outside the front door, but just replaced it with a 50 watt equivalent LED. The LED bulb is just too bright to look at when I walk near it. The bulb and socket are fully exposed and are about 7.5 feet up, so the brightness of the bulb is in the eyes every time you walk by the bulb. Walking by the bulb, you come within 3 feet or so from it.

Is there some sort of way to cover the bulb with a safe diffuser so the bulb's brightness doesn't hurt the eyes? If not, then would you recommend I go down to say a 25 watt equivalent LED? or just screw it and go back to the yellow bug light cuz my set up is so ghetto.
