Can I have a chandelier over my vanity if I have 8' ceilings?

We are renovating our 1/2 bath with a contemporary flavor. I only have 37" in width to work with. The vanity is 24" wide and the mirror is 23" wide. I was going to do a sconce on each side of the mirror but with only 7" left over for each sconce I decided I would have to put the sconces on the adjoining walls instead. BUT..can I put a chandelier over the vanity instead? The ceilings are only 8', maybe I would have to use a semi-flush mounted fixture? I would like a bit of sparkle, something like http://www.westelm.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODw410&storeId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId=17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE-SH1WALPEN&retainNav=true&cmsrc=WE-SH1WALPEN, but I think this is too big. Any ideas? Opinions? Thanks!

That is a nice chandelier. However, for a small space and low ceiling you might want to try something simpler. Perhaps a large yet simple pendant from Architects & Heroes

Here is a link that might be useful: architects & Heroes
