Basement Lighting: CFL or Halogen ??

There are way too many options here for lighting a basement. I plan on using 6" recessed cans for my 8 foot ceilings. I dont want to use LED yet due to price. So CFL and Halogen are left. I dont have enough lighting knowledge to decide which is the most beneficial bulb to use. Any help would be much appreciated? thx

CFL will use less energy and emit less heat. You need to choose lamps carefully if you need good color rendering. I am not a fan of dimming fluorescents. It is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Halogens will always have good color rendering. They will cost more in the long run due to higher use of power.
