Follow-up: I think the only option is to move the lights further out, which I'm guesstimating will be about 18" on-center from the cabinets. So, I still wonder if I should match the 18" positions for 5,6 and 7 too. I'm thinking yes, simply to have the light that is cast on the cabinet fronts to be matching. Any thoughts otherwise? Move them way from counter to avoid shadows on cabinets. Then use under cab lights to light the counter.

What are the can lights for?

Put them all the same distance.

Cans are a rater poor source of general lighting. It takes an awful lot of them to provide good coverage.

I put them all at the same distance (17") away from the cabinets. Will also have UCL and 3 pendants above the kitchen island, so I won't be solely relying on the cans for lighting the kitchen. Thanks for confirming my thoughts on distance.
