Doing a kitchen update and want to keep it simple with the under cabinet lights as don't want more switches on the backsplash areas and/or more expense with an electrician.

For now we have an older 24" florescent light with it's own turn knob switch mounted under the cabinet above the sink in this before pic.

It works out well and throws light to each side of the sink without that shelf in the picture which has been removed. I would like to replace that with a new light with it's own switch again and maybe a high/low option. Read about Xenon which has the hi/lo option but they get hot and we do leave this light on all night. What would be a good brand, type of light for this?

Then, on the other side of the kitchen a small L shaped counter and need a 24" bar under the corner cabinet and an 18" on the cabinet to the left of it that could be hardwired and linked together hopefully using the existing dimmer switch which operates the same type cam lights in the soffit.

Need to get pick this up this week and any and all suggestions appreciated!
