PICS-Exterior lights won't sit flush

AARGH!! 1) The back plate of my lights is mounted on lap siding making it tilt out instead of being perpendicular to the wall--not the best look. Our contractor shimmed it, but it still does not sit straight. 2) Also, I had the holes for the lights set too low. The lights are quite large, and are real head bangers. Contractor can fix this but said it would take a whole ($$$) day! Guess he'd have to remove and replace some of the lap siding. Ideas much appreciated!

You can buy plastic mounting plates for vinyl lap siding, might not fit your siding or be the look you're going for but they do exist.
