Low Voltage Lighting for Driveway

A friend has a steep and narrow driveway, about 175 feet long through a wooded area. It's dark at night and no fun when you leave the pavement. I'd like to install low voltage lighting since trenching in this rocky area for line voltage would be quite difficult.
I'm considering the 11 watt floodlights from Malibu, spaced at 10 foot and on 4 foot posts which would be about 2 foot from the edge of the driveway.
I've no experience with LV lighting and don't know if this is reasonable, or even too much.

Some amount of trenching is still needed as the wires need to be protected and should not be left on the ground as a trip hazard.

Alternatively, would hanging a string of lights along the path be feasible?

Some trenching, yes, but not the 12 to 18 inches needed for line voltage.
I don't see a hanging string of LV lights giving enough illumination to see the edges of the driveway.

If it is possible to deploy light strings, you're not limited to low voltage.

Would your envisaged lighting scheme provide sufficient light?

Figure out if it is possible to deliver the requisite voltage and current to the furthest end first. There are low voltage wiring gauge calculator available online for that purpose. Environmentallights.com has one.
