Hi, I'm renovating an old row home in D.C. and have hit a lighting snag. I'd like to use recessed housings that are compatible with LED and regular old bulbs. (I would start out with the old and then phase in the LED once the bigger parts of the project are paid for!) My electrician says he uses Progress P85-TG and Lightolier 1004 housings. Are either of these compatible with both types of bulbs? The guy is ridiculously tough to contact, and frankly, the contractor hasn't been much help.

But the contractor says I need to go with the electrician's products (or at least that line) or else he says I'll have to order all the housings and trim myself.

Any idea whether the electrician lines will work -- or a solid but affordable alternative? Many thanks in advance!
