How much Undercabinet Lighting Needed?

Posted by lexluthor (My Page) on

I have the following sets of cabinets that I need to have undercabinet lighting for

Group 1 - 2 12" Cabinets
Group 2 - 1 33" Cabinet and 2 12" Cabinets
Group 3 - 1 33" Cabinet
Group 4 - 1 30" Cabinet, 1 15" Cabinet

I had purchased 3 24" (3 bulb) and 2 8" Xenon bars. They will be on a dimmer. They'll be over a Verde Butterfly granite. I figure one 8" for Group 1, 1 24" and 1 8" for Group 2, 1 24" for Group 3 and 1 24" for Group 4.

My GC thinks that's going to be way too much light and think I might want 5 puck lights (1 puck for group 1, 2, 3, and 2 for group 4) total.

Thoughts?

Fixtures have hi/lo switch to give some adjustment without needing a dimmer or you can dim with electronic dimmer.

Here is a link that might be useful: under cabinet xenon
