lights for low slanted ceiling in bonus space

We finished out a previously unfinished space in our bungalow-style house that measures about 7x10 with extremely slanted ceilings and a max ceiling height of about 6.5' (which is about a 1' wide strip running the center length of the room) that follow the peak of the roof. According to my contractor, there wasn't enough room to get even a small can in this space. We anticipate this being a playroom/sleep area/homework area for a child.

What lighting options do we have? So far we've looked at low profile track lighting with halogen, which I'm worried will be way too hot given how low the ceiling is; LED pucks, which don't put out enough light; typical Home Depot/Hampton Bay LED track lighting, which is a little better in terms of output but still drops 3-4" below the ceiling. Going crazy trying to find something that will work here. There are outlets we can plug lamps into, but we want overhead lighting in this space as well. Ideas appreciated...
