Thoughts on clear glass pendants for dining

Hi. I am renovating a 1948 cape cod. The best feature of the house is a huge bay area (floor to ceiling glass) overlooking a beautiful lake (north facing) in the main living area.

this is a big room and I will make it a combined dining/living area with table in the bay.

I am struggling with lighting. I want nice lighting for dining but do not want to obstruct or distract from this incredible view.

Clear glass pendants are ALlL THE RAGE and I must admit I like the look. I was thinking of putting the CB2 firefly pendant, which is a cluster of clear globes suspended on a black cord (I have black modern Windsor chairs) above the table in front of the bay. So, yeah, you see right through the globes! But then again, isn't this a cold feeling, especially in a north facing room? And glarey?

And, will this just scream 2014 in 5 years?

Thanks for the input! A light and airy modern twist on traditional black iron chandalier is another idea .... But not as fun!
