| My contractor installed 12 CREE CR6 recessed lights. He did not seal the housing to the sheetrock. Is it necessary to do that with mastic tape? Thank you very much. |

| Not really necessary, although some have put a bead of caulk around the circumference. Assuming a title 24 style installation The housing would typically be in direct contact with insulation (in CA). The tape adhesive degrades over time anyway.. |
