Pendant lighting position

Please help! I'm having an electrician wire for three 6"W pendant lights over my island. The dimensions of the island are 116" W x 64" D. The sink is on one side and the seating on the other. On the width side, we spaced the pendants evenly between the sides of the island. However, when positioning the depth of the pendants on the island, should they be centered, hanging toward the sink area, or hanging over the seating area? My contractor suggested hanging them at 2/3 depth of the island toward the seating side of the island. What do I do?

I'll assume the 116" W x 64" D are the dimensions of the countertop itself? And I'd go with center, it'll evenly cast light to the seating area and the sink side. So the center light would be 58" W x 32" D. The other 2 should be around 33" W(measured from the ends of the island in towards the center light) x 32" D.
