Hi Melissa, although I really like the site for lighting psychlight suggested, I interpreted how to treat your foyer on the interior. If that is the case, yes, most definitely, a pendant or chandelier would help with defining the space. You mentioned the ceiling slopes, so a pendant could attach on the slope and come down directly to a specific spot in your foyer. And a small table or shelf, bench, etc would also help.
