Urgent Help Needed

Hello everyone.

We are building a home and just had our electical walkthrough yesterday. We have a great room that is 24'x20' with 10' coffered ceilings. I think there are 15 coffers. The builder and electrician recommened putting a can in each coffer minus the three at the front of the room in front of the fireplace and built-ins where the tv will be. Our builder has gone to 100% CFL, which I'm not thrilled about or very familar with and don't know what to expect. From everything I've read about CFL it doesn't seem like I will be that happy with the dimming capability of the CFLs. My biggest concern that it will be too bright and I won't be able to do anythinig about it.

My question is, would fewer cans be better? If so, how many? He is starting tomorrow so I'm deperate for some advice.

Switching to the Cree LED lights that many on GW recommend is not in the budget.

Thanks in advance.
