How to get better light from our Compact Fluorescents

We live in California, and when our contractor installed compact Fluorescents in our closet, they just don't seem to give off enough light. Our closets are about 5' x 2 1/2' by 9' tall. My pantry has the same problem (sized at about 7 1/2 ' by 3' by 9" tall.

Can anyone recommend a size or brand/type of fluorsecents safe to install in a closet that would provide more light?

There's nothing wrong with using aluminum foil attached firmly to the ceiling so that you create a reflector.

You can get a double socket adapter stilll at some places
online that turns a single socket into a double socket.

Or you can increase the wattage at great cost. Over 27
watts the prices go up because the demand is low.
